Bush told to plan for Chávez oil shock

Richard Lugar, chairman of the US Senate foreign relations committee, has urged the Bush administration to adopt specific "contingency plans" for a potential disruption to oil supplies from Venezuela.

In a letter sent to Condoleezza Rice, secretary of state, last Friday, a copy of which has been obtained by the Financial Times, Mr Lugar warned the US that it needed to "abandon" reliance on a "passive approach" to energy diplomacy.

And in other words to adopt a direct and aggressive approach (=military action) to energy diplomacy.

No wonder Chavez has chosen to upgrade Venezuela's military with newer rifles and better helicopters and aircraft.

Ethiopian troops enter central Somalia

Hundreds of Ethiopian troops in armored vehicles rolled into Somalia on Thursday to protect their allies in this country’s virtually powerless government from Islamic militants who control the capital.

The move could give the U.S.-backed Somali government its only chance of curbing the Islamic militia’s increasing power. But Ethiopia’s incursion could also be just the provocation the militia needs to build public support for a guerrilla war.

*************************************************************

and they did come back as the earlier post indicated!

A hell of a dirty game of geopolitics...sad to see the world going down the drain.

On another note, Germany just sent 800 troops to the Democratic Republic of Congo., to "make sure the presidential race runs smoothly", i.e., to protect European interests in Africa. (Interestingly enough this decision came *after* Merkel came to power...)

Sad to see Europe returning to Neo-Colonialism. These actions prove that the EU is not much different from the U.S. In fact, both are marching hand in hand on the geopolitical stage. I will write on this subject more when I have more time.

Somali Islamic Leader Blasts U.S.

"The leader of the Islamic militants who captured the Somali capital earlier this month said 300 Ethiopian troops entered the country on Saturday and accused the United States of supporting the incursion"

"
The United States is encouraging Ethiopia to take over the area"
**************************************************************

Interesting to see this happen, as the U.S. backed warlords just lost control over Mogadishu a couple days earlier, and recently picked up warlords with a U.S. vessel:

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/060617/1/41kid.html

"Yalahwo and Shirar took a boat and were picked up by the US ship. No one knows where they are heading but they said they will be back," a bodyguard of the warlords said and several residents confirmed."

The hidden stakes in the Iran crisis

The seizure of Iran by the USA would mean them taking control of both the East bank of the Persian Gulf and the Southern Caspian, including their reserves of oil and gas estimated to be the second largest in the world.

Already the US have military control of part of the Caspian basin and of a corridor enabling them to link this area with the Indian Ocean (Afghanistan and Pakistan). They have also taken control of the key areas of the Gulf (Saudi Arabia and Iraq). At the end of this operation, Washington should have complete control over the world’s main hydrocarbon production and reserves. It will control the world economy without the need to share power.
*************************************************************

I suggest people read Zbigniew Brzezinski's The Grand Chessboard.

I utterly despise Brzezinski and his neo-con masterplan for U.S. domination over the Caspian Oil Basin (and of the world's hydrocarbon resources), but his book clearly outlines current U.S. policy.

When one understands this, "terrorism" and "the global war on terror" become irrelevant, as these are the ruses the U.S. uses to advance their political agenda.

The main thing is to resist U.S. policy to the fullest so this goal of theirs will not succeed!!
Failure in stopping the U.S. will result in "Armageddon" (i.e. nuclear war in the Middle East and other countries considered "hostile" towards U.S. "interests")

Bechtel vs. Bolivia: The People win!

The Cochabamba water revolt – which began exactly six years ago this month – will end this morning when Bechtel, one of the world’s most powerful corporations, formally abandons its legal effort to take $50 million from the Bolivian people. Bechtel made that demand before a secretive trade court operated by the World Bank, the same institution that coerced Bolivia to privatize the water to begin with. Faced with protests, barrages of e-mails, visits to their homes, and years of damaging press, Bechtel executives finally decided to surrender, walking away with a token payment equal to thirty cents. That retreat sets a huge global precedent.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE !!!! :-)

As I keep on saying, a new wind of change is blowing in South America!

We shall wait and see if Obrador wins in Mexico and Humala in Peru.

Then Ecuador, Paraguay, and Colombia would be next. A domino effect has certainly begun in South America after Chavez won the presidency in Venezuela!

Venezuelan opposition leaders planning a very violent and very bloody attack on their own people

I hope this does not happen, but seeing how the US rhetoric against Chavez has been growing from angry to hateful, everything is possible.

The U.S. is in a moral downfall, and need any excuse possible to get Chavez out of power.

Bolivian elections

Regarding the Bolivian elections and taking into account the history of U.S. interventions in Latin America, it would be almost impossible to believe that the U.S. will just let Evo be.

Heres some info regarding the U.S. and Latin America...

http://www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=47460

already now, reports are coming in that up to a million people were barred from voting in the Bolivian elections...Evo supporters needless to say...

Anti-US leftist clinches Bolivia election

LA PAZ, Bolivia (Reuters) - Evo Morales, a leftist former coca leaf farmer vowing to be a "nightmare for the U.S.," was poised to become Bolivia's first indigenous president on Sunday after likely clinching one of the biggest electoral victories in the country's history.

Morales appeared certain to take office in January when his rivals conceded defeat and results tabulated by local media showed him garnering slightly more than 50 percent of the vote, much higher than predicted.
**************************************************************1

EVO!!!! :-)

Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, perhaps Paraguay too (we shall see what the U.S troops who were recently placed there are up to now that Evo won the vote...) still need a change of government! (not to mention the Central American countries...)

We shall also see how the U.S. will react to Evos victory.

Will they respect his victory and leave him alone, or will they try to discredit him and sabotage his government like they have been doing with Chavez in Venezuela, or will they invade as their troops are rather closeby. Time will tell.

Where they hide the cash

We help rich individuals and companies to spirit away vast sums from the developing world

Duncan Campbell
Monday December 5, 2005
The Guardian

Five trillion dollars has been corruptly removed from the world's poorest countries and lodged permanently in the world's richest countries. That is the "conservative estimate" not of a leftwing anti-globalisation activist but of a leading American businessman and enthusiast for capitalism who has just completed a major study of how multinational corporations, wealthy individuals and unscrupulous governments are using the world's banking systems in ways that spread poverty.

*******************************************************************************

These same rich countries (G7) then still have the guts to say that the neoliberal model helps people out of poverty.

Hugo Chavez understands this as well, and he told the IMF to leave Venezuela alone, and that Venezuela would not participate in the Structural Adjustment Programs (SAP's) that have crippled countries instead of helping them.

The neoliberal model means death and poverty to the unfortunate, at the cost of the rich elite.

The biggest lie in capitalism/globalization is that everyone is better off and everyone can get rich.

There is one very important thing to remember: The ones who consume are not the ones who produce.

In order for us to be able to buy goods for cheaper price (also lower quality!), other people have to sell their souls the the neoliberal model, and work as underpayed servants to the neoliberal elite. This is one main reason for the outsourcing of jobs into third world countries:Cheap labor for more profit to the benefit of the rich.

Netanyahu: Pre-emptive Strike on Iran

“If by the end of March 2006, the international community does not manage to use diplomatic means to block Iran's effort to produce a nuclear bomb, there will no longer be any reason to continue diplomatic activity in this field, and it will be possible to say that the international attempts to thwart [Iran's efforts] have failed,” Ze'evi said.

********************************************************************

What a coincidence. Iran will start trading its oil in Euros as of early 2006:

In 2005-2006, The Tehran government has a developed a plan to begin competing with New York's NYMEX and London's IPE with respect to international oil trades - using a euro-denominated international oil-trading mechanism. This means that without some form of US intervention, the euro is going to establish a firm foothold in the international oil trade. Given U.S. debt levels and the stated neoconservative project for U.S. global domination, Tehran's objective constitutes an obvious encroachment on U.S. dollar supremacy in the international oil market
